Over the course of his career as both a professional football player and a college football coach, Steve Spurrier has reached the highest level of sports by winning the Heisman Trophy himself in 1966 and then as a coach leading the University of Florida Gators to a national championship 30 years later in 1996.
Born in Miami Beach, Florida, early Steve Spurrier appearances on his high school football team led to him being recruited to play college football for the University of Florida Gators, a team he would go on to coach three decades later.
