Detailed Biography of Merril Hoge
Throughout his career, Merril Hoge has often faced great difficulty, from fierce competition on the football field to battling cancer, but he has overcome all those obstacles with grace and motivation.
Born in Pocatello, Idaho, early Merril Hoge appearances on the football field came in his hometown, where he was a running back for the Idaho State University team, for which he started during all four years of his college career. Following graduating from Idaho State University, Merril Hoge appearances were drafted in the 1987 National Football League Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, for which he played from 1987 to 1993. Then, Merril Hoge finished up his professional football career with the Chicago Bears before retiring to become a football analyst and commentator for the ESPN cable network. During his career as a running back in the National Football League, Merril Hoge accomplished a number of things, including capturing a total of 3,139 rushing yards and a total of 2,133 receiving yards. In 1990 alone, he managed to make 10 touchdowns. All told, the total number of touchdowns the running back scored during his NFL career checks in at 34 touchdowns.
Throughout his career, a number of charitable organizations have received the Merril Hoge endorsement. The football player himself serves on the board for the charitable organization The Highmark Caring Foundation.
