Detailed Biography of Byron Scott
From college basketball to the National Basketball Association to overseas ball to coaching in the NBA, Byron Scott has really done it all when it comes to professional basketball. And he continues to do it all well, having won three National Basketball Association Championships over the course of his lengthy career.
Born in Ogden, Utah, early Byron Scott appearances proved him to be a worthy basketball recruit for a college team, and he was ultimately chosen to play for Arizona State University. Before he graduated, Byron Scott was chosen as the fourth overall pick in the 1983 National Basketball Association Draft. Although he was initially selected to play for the San Diego Clippers, the first Byron Scott appearance in the NBA came for the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom he played for the next 10 years as a shooting guard and part of their famous Showtime era of play. He subsequently made Byron Scott appearances for the Indiana Pacers, the Vancouver Grizzlies and the Panathinaikos of Greece before wrapping up his NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, in the same season that included Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.
One notable charity that has received a Byron Scott endorsement has been The Byron Scott Children’s Fund, which raises money for a number of children’s charities and has raised more than $15 million.
