Detailed Biography of Barbara Corcoran
No one knows real estate quite like Barbara Corcoran. A one time real estate mogul, today Barbara Corcoran is best known for her columns on the real estate market and her numerous appearances on NBC as the network’s real estate correspondent.
Born in New Jersey, the first professional Barbara Corcoran appearances came in the classroom after she earned a degree in education from St. Thomas Aquinas College in 1971. She only spent one year as a teacher before she elected to move on to several jobs, one of which involved apartment locating. By 1973, she had taken out a $1,000 loan and founded her own real estate company, which she called The Corcoran Group. She even compiled New York City real estate trends in a special publication called The Corcoran Report. Barbara Corcoran appearances helped make The Corcoran Group so successful that by 2001, the company was worth $66 million when it was purchased by NRT Incorporated.
Since her business was sold, Barbara Corcoran has devoted more time to public appearances. Barbara Corcoran appearances in print are fairly common as she contributes regular columns on the real estate market and industry to a variety of publications and magazines, including Redbook, More Magazine and The Daily Review. She also distilled all her life lessons throughout her childhood and career into the memoir “Use What You’ve Got: If You Don’t Have Big Breasts, Put Ribbons on Your Pigtails and Other Lessons I Learned From My Mom” in 2003. She followed that effort up with the 2008 volume “Nextville: Amazing Places to Live Your Life.”
With the housing market still all over the board, a Barbara Corcoran keynote address will surely help the audience crystallize the essentials that they need to be aware of.
