Detailed Biography of Aron Ralston
Today Aron Ralston’s unique and harrowing story is better known to the public throughout the world because of James Franco’s Academy Award nominated performance as Ralston in Danny Boyle’s 2010 film “127 Hours.”
Growing up in Colorado, it is no surprise that Aron Ralston became enamored with the great outdoors and loved outdoor recreational activities. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with two degrees, one in mechanical engineering and one in French. By 2002, he had quit his job with Intel as a mechanical engineer to pursue his interests in rock and mountain claiming. Tragedy struck in 2003 in the Blue John Canyon in Utah when he became trapped by a boulder. He spent five full days trapped in that position, carefully rationing his water and working to free himself. Ultimately, he ended up amputating his own arm to break free. In 2004, the first Aron Ralston appearance in print came when he published his own memoir of the experience entitled “Between a Rock and a Hard Place,” which has become one of the best selling autobiographies of all time.
After his experience, Aron Ralston speaker appearances were in high demand, and the new author made guest appearances on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “Dateline NBC,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and “Good Morning America.” One Aron Ralston endorsement came when he took part in a Miller Lite ad campaign.
Even though his tale of terror while hiking has been popularized through the film “127 Hours” and his own autobiography, an Aron Ralston motivational speaking engagement or an Aron Ralston keynote address will surely inspire everyone in the audience as they hear about his experience in person in his own words.
