Detailed Biography of Al Joyner
Reaching the highest level of success as Olympic track and field athletes runs in the Joyner family. Al Joyner experienced those heights first hand by winning the prestigious Olympic gold medal in the triple jump event at the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California.
Born in East Saint Louis, Illinois, Al Joyner appearances in track and field took place for Arkansas University during his college years. While competing in the grueling triple jump event as a college student, Al Joyner appearances earned him the nickname of “Sweetwater.” In the summer of 1984, Al Joyner appearances took on an international flavor as he overcame huge obstacles to post a 17.26 meter jump in the triple jump event of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games. That jump was high enough to earn an Al Joyner appearance on the podium as the first American Olympic gold medal winner in that event in more than eight solid decades. For his amazing performances in that year’s Olympic Games, an Al Joyner appearance was called for as he won the prestigious Jim Thorpe Award for his success.
Olympic success soon surrounded Al Joyner appearances. His sister, Jackie Joyner Kersee, captured an Olympic gold medal herself in the sprint event. Al Joyner married Florence Griffith Joyner, known commonly as Flo Jo, but sadly, she passed away due to epilepsy. In her memory, Al Joyner endorsements have included his work as the director of the Flo Jo Community Empowerment Foundation. Other Al Joyner endorsements have come in support of Planned Parenthood.
Coming from a family of Olympians in the form of himself, his sister Jackie Joyner Kersee and his late wife Florence Griffith Joyner, an Al Joyner motivational speaking engagement would surely provide inspiration for reaching the highest levels of competition in the world of sports.
